Pasture. Operations commenced in the spring of 1931 with a total area of 578 acres in pasture of sorts. Harrowing and top-dressing has improved what was then considered poor pasture and together with the area pastured by the Scheme (324 acres) makes a total grass area of 902 acres at the close of the financial year. Haymaking.—-It was estimated that 42 tons of hay was harvested during the summer months. General. This is a section of the Whakatohea Scheme where 110 labour costs were incurred for any of the work done in connection with the development of the land.
