No. 268.—Petition of Martha M. Gill, of Dunedin. Petitioner prays for a compassionate allowance on account of her late husband's services in the Lands, Survey, and Public Works Departments. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 18th October, 1911.

Nil. 18.—Petition of H. W. Glynn, of Wellington. Petitioner prays for inquiry into the cause of his retirement from the Police Force, and that he be reinstated, or a suitable position in the service provided for him. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that the conviction of the Magistrate was not justified, and that the constable's application for a rehearing should have been granted ; and also recommends that the petitioner sin mid be reinstated in the Police Force. 18th October, 1911.

No. 226. —Petition of Norman St. C. Hales, of Wellington. Petitioner prays for the introduction of legislation to enable him to register under the Dentists Act, 1908. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 18th October, 1911.

Petitioner prays for compensation for loss of shops at Onehunga, destroyed by order of the Stipendiary Magistrate, through being plague-infected. I am directed to report that this petition be referred to the Government for consideration, 18th October, 1911.
