I have the honour to forward herewith the annual returns in connection with the Whangarei High School for the year ended 31st December, 1910. Duringjthe year the school has made satisfactory progress. The Board of Governors are endeavouring tojestablish a boarding-school in connection with the High School, and for this purpose have secured some 3 acres of land adjoining the High School site in Manse Street. From local contributions promised, and a grant agreed to by the Minister of Education for this purpose, the Board hopes to see the building erected in due time. This will be of great value to those pupils attending the High School who have to reside away from home during their terms at school. Towards the end of May last the Rev. L. L. Cubitt resigned his position as a member of the Board of Governors, on account of his removal from Whangarei. The Board placed on record its appreciation of Mr. Cubitt's long and useful .service in connection with secondary education. The Rev. J. L.
