Synopsis of Legislation passed by thb General Assembly of New Zealand in the Session ENDING ON THE 17tH DAY OF JUNE, 1909. The Finance Act, 1909. Part I of this Act makes temporary provisions with respect to the expenditure of the public revenues of the Dominion during the period ending on the 14th day of October, 1909. These provisions are rendered necessary by the fact that, owing to the early prorogation of Parliament, the usual Imprest Supply Acts and the annual Appropriation Act could not be passed. This Act therefore extends the appropriations of the last preceding financial year up to the 14th day of October, 1909, by which time Parliament will be again in session. Part II of the Act authorises a loan of jE1,250,000, together with a further sum of £75,000, for expenditure on certain public works.
