There has been a considerable increase in the number of patients treated during the year, and a fall in the individual average stay. For a hospital of this size, the salary of the doctor —£265 and a house—may be considered large, but the position held by Dr. Douglas in this community is so unique, and rests on so long a record of splendid service, that nothing need be said so long as the public is content. The institution I found in a thoroughly satisfactory condition.
