Natives will not sell. Advances represent survey-lien only. It is doubtful to what extent these old advances will be recovered; some of the blocks cannot be identified. 856,403 68,499 28,843 Note. —In cases where Column 4 is left blank the inference, if not otherwise explained, is that no further advances are contemplated, and that the Native Land Court will define the interests acquired by the Crown in respect of past payments. In other cases the purchases are still in progress. For the purposes of comparison between Columns 4 and 5 the sums of £6,936 and £12,362, being amounts of past payments not shown in Column 4 as above referred to, should be added to the totals of £38,399 and £68,499 respectively in the former. In all other cases the amount shown in Column 4 is the estimated total cost of the land, and the amount in Column 5 is included in that in Column 4. Column 6, survey-liens, &c, due to Government: Tauponuiatia, £4,496 ; Eohepotae, £6,602: total, £11,098. These liens will be recovered from time to time in land or money when the titles are in a position to be dealt with.
