Nov. 12,1877 South Invercargill Otago 2,000 Selected on Run No 188, Southland District; partly overlaps selection of East Invercargill. First application was 11th August, 1877, for 2,000 acres in Seaward Forest. Invercargill possesses town lands 121 quarter-acres, bringing in a total present rental of £217 7s. Selection made in Seaward Bush ; ground presently occupied by saw-millers. Commissioner of Crown Lands sees no objection to grant if saw-millers are allowed to finish. On 27th August, 1877, Corporation of Invercargill were informed that steps would be taken to reserve the land for Corporation, but that the grant would be delayed until riehts of sawmillers were expired. fa Selected in Dalhousie Hundred. Could be given endowment on Jttun JNo. 48. ° Parts of Runs 24-A, 90, and 72 (lease expires 1881, 1880, 1879). Council were informed, 7th September 1877 that another selection must be made, and that it should be forwarded through Commissioner of Crown Lands Could be given endowment on Run No. 48. Part of Run 219, included in reserve for endowment of Strath^Taieri Railway. Lease expires 1883 On 22nd April Municipal Council reports that it still adheres to this selection, provided possession is given before expiry of lease. The Naseby Hospital asks for an endowment of 2 000 acres on Kun 222. ' Selection made in Waihemo Hundred. Cannot be given effect to, as land has since been disposed of. Commissioner of Crown Lands ordered bv Hon Mr. Macandrew to reserve land from sale, January 11th, 1878. First applied for 2,000 acres on Run No. 80, but were informed selection must be made from land open for sale Second application, 16th November, 1877, for Sections 25, 43, 44, 45, and 46, Waihemo District. 1,526 acres 29 perches has been open for sale for eight years. It is purely pastoral country. Mr. Geo. McLean suggests that these town reserves may be vested in Corporation under " The Reserves Act 1877 " Selected 2,000 acres in Kurow District (Hon. R. Campbell's Run No. 28). It is part of 9,000 acres now under survey for settlement. On 28th November, 1877, by direction of Hon. Mr. Macandrew, the Council was requested to make another selection, which apparently lias not been done. Roslyn Municipality recently got land in Block X Dunedm and East Taieri District, within their extended boundaries, proclaimed as an endowment. Further endowment could be made on Run No. 48. Part of Block XI., Maerewhenua. This has been proclaimed. On Run No. 178, and in Spylaw Hundred, part of Block XVIL, Crookston.
