BAY OF PLENTY DISTRICT.—SCHEDULE No. 16, 1872. THE Eel Weirs herein described have been awarded by the Compensation Court to Loyal Natives, or have been granted by the Government to Loyal Natives, and to surrendered Rebels. Each Eel Weir herein named is given to the Aboriginal Native whose name is opposite to the same, for the purposes and under the conditions attached against the same.

No. 4. The Hon. the Native Ministee to Mr. J. A. Wilson. Sie, — General Government Buildings, Auckland, 22nd June, 1872. I have the honor to inform you that I have carefully perused your interesting report on the settlement of outstanding difficulties connected with the confiscated lands in the Bay of Plenty, and have to thank you for the exertions you have used in adjusting questions which have so long remained in abeyance. WEST COAST. No. 5. The Hon. D. McLean to Mr. G. B. Woegan. Sie, — Native Office, Wellington, Ist November, 1871. Referring to conversations I have had with you respecting the settlement of outstanding questions in connection with the confiscated and other lands on the West Coast of this Province, I am anxious to obtain your services to undertake these duties, for which you would be allowed at the rate of £450 per annum from the date on which you personally report yourself in Wellington, if you accept this proposal.
