ORDERS OP REFERENCE.

Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Wednesday, the 26th Day of March, 1941. Ordered " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters pertaining to aericultural and pastoral industries and stock which may be referred to it, with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council and to agree to a joint or separate report : the Committee to consist of Mr. Boswell, Mr. Burnett, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Kyle, Mr. McCombs, the Hon. Mr. Lee Martin, Mr. Osborne, Mr. Roberts, Mr. Williams, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Barclay.) Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1940 be again referred to the same Committees'as they were referred to during the said session." —(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.) Thursday, the 24th Day of July, 1941. Ordered, " That the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the House."—(Mr. Roberts.) Thursday, the 14th Day of August, 1941. Ordered, " That the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the House." —(Mr. Roberts.)

REPORTS.

No. 6.—Petition of T. F. Simpson, of Wellington. Praying for inquiry into his proposals for the marketing of apples and pears. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 30th July, 1941.

No, s.—Petition of B. T. Turner and 104 Others, of Canterbury. Praying for a revision of the terms of the fruit-purchase scheme as applied to Canterbury orchardists, T have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee, having carefully considered this petition and the evidence submitted thereon, has no recommendation to make in respect of the prayer of the petition. In view, however, of the evidence submitted of the cordial relations existing between the fruitgrowers of the Canterbury District and the Internal Marketing Department, the Committee desires to recommend to the Government that an advisory local committee of the Canterbury fruitgrowers be set up to act in co-operation with the Internal Marketing Department. The Committee recommends to the House that this report be referred to the Government. 20th August, 1941.

No. 30.—Petition of C. E. Pope and 44 Others, of Christchurch. Praying that certain sections of the New-Zealand-grown Fruit Regulations 1940, relating to the grading, sizing, packing, inspection, and sale of stone-fruit, be revoked. I have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 20th August, 1941.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by the Clerk of the Committee, Mr. E. B. Harman, and, further, desires this resolution to be recorded on the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. 14th October, 1941. B. Roberts, Chairman.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee desires to place on record its hearty appreciation of the services of its Chairman, Mr. Roberts, and has directed that a resolution to this effect be placed upon the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. 15th October, 1941. C. M. Williams, Member of the Committee.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee, consisting of ten members, has held three meetings, with an average attendance of six members. Three petitions were considered and reported on to the House. 15th October, 1941. B. Roberts, Chairman.
