ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the Souse of Representatives. Thursday, the 16th Day of April, 1936. Ordered), " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to public health, infectious diseases, contagious diseases, hospitals, and to local authorities having charge of these matters, and to other matters affecting public health which may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Anderton, Mr. Chapman, Mr. Coleman, Mr. Dickie, Mr. Kyle, Dr. McMillan, Mr. Richards, Mr. Roy, Mr. Wright, and the Mover." —(Hon. Mr. Fraser.) Tuesday, the 13th Day or October, 1936. Ordered, " That the Dentists Bill be referred to the Public Health Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Eraser.) Tuesday, the 20th Day or October, 1936. No. 233.—Petition of A. T. Murray, of Carterton. Praying that he be granted the right to carry on the practice of dentistry under the supervision of a registered dentist. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 10th September, 1936.
No. 2.—Petition of L. F. Roache, of Maxwell. Praying for compensation on account of alleged unskilful treatment while an inmate of the Wanganui Public Hospital. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be forwarded to the Government for consideration. 10th September, 1936.
No. 216. —Petition of W. Beaumont, of Christchurch. Praying for compensation for business losses allegedly caused by the Health Department. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 10th September, 1936.
Dentists Bill. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee has heard evidence on and carefully considered the above-mentioned Bill and has made amendments therein. The Committee is of the opinion that the Bill should be proceeded with next session with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 28th October, 1936.
No. 251.—Petition of C. M. Stagpoole, of Palmerston North. Praying for permission to practise prosthetic dentistry under the supervision of a qualified dentist. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 29th October, 1936.
No. 280. —Petition of G-. L. Lewis, of Dunedin. Praying that his name be placed on the Dentists' Register established under the Dentists Act, 1908. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. D. G. McMillan, Chairman. 29th October, 1936.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Public Health Committee passed the following resolution: " That this Committee place on record its high appreciation of the care and ability with which the Chairman, Dr. D. G-. McMillan, has conducted the business of the Committee, and directs that this resolution be reported to the House." H. S. S. Kyle, a Member of the Committee. 29th October, 1936.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Public Health Committee passed the following resolution: " That this Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the efficient manner in which the Clerk, Mr. E. A. Bobbie, has carried out his duties during the session, and directs that this resolution be reported to the House." 29th October, 1936.
Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee has during the session held eight meetings, with an average attendance of seven members, to consider eight petitions and the Dentists Bill. All the petitions were carefully considered and reported on to the House. Twenty-six witnesses gave evidence 011 the Bill, which was reported on with amendments. D. G-.
