REPORTS. No. 54. —Petition of the Veterinary Practitioners' Association of New Zealand, of Hawera. Praying that all persons who have practised as veterinary surgeons for a period of six years prior to the commencement of the Act shall be entitled to register as veterinary surgeons. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 26th August, 1927.

Special Report on Educational Facilities for Veterinary Surgeons. 1 am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee attention should be directed to the fact that there are no educational facilities in New Zealand that will enable people in this country to obtain the qualifications required for a veterinary surgeon under the Veterinary Surgeons Act, 1926. The Committee therefore recommends that, pending the provision of such facilities, a system of bursaries or scholarships should be established to enable holders of them to qualify either in Australia or Great Britain ; and that this resolution should be reported to the House. 26th August, 1927.

Fertilizers Bill. (First Report.) 1 am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 27th September, 1927.

No. 71. —Petition of William Richard Hufton, of Lower Hutt. Praying for assistance in connection with an improved branding process for carcasses for export. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 17th October, 1927.

Orchard-tax Bill. I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 17th October, 1927.

Apiaries Bill. I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill annexed hereto. 17th October, 1927.

Fertilizers Bill. (Second Report.) I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendment shown on the copy of the Bill annexed hereto. 20th October, 1927.

Noxious Weeds Amendment Bill. I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 21st October, 1927.

No. 306.—Petition of Esmos Timber and Machinery Co., and 17 Others, of Wellington. Praying for exemption from registration of woodworking machinery under Chattels Transfer Act. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Industries and Commerce Committee. 21st October, 1927.

Introduction op Plants Bill. I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 28th October, 1927.

Seeds Importation Bill. I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 10th November, 1927.

No. 307.—Petition of Charles English, of Orepuki. Praying for amendment of regulations regarding importation of seed potatoes from Great Britain, or compensation. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 10th November, 1927.

Slaughtering and Inspection Amendment Bill. I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill annexed hereto. 15th November, 1927.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Industries and Stock Committee desires to record its great appreciation of the tact and ability with which the Chairman, Sir George Hunter, has conducted the business of the Committee during the session. It further desires that this resolution shall be entered on the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. 24th November, 1927. H. G. Dickie, Member of the Committee.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Industries and Stock Committee desires to record its appreciation of the ability and courtesy with which the Clerk, Mr. Dobbie, has carried out his various duties during the session, and recommends that he be given a permanent appointment. It further desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the. Committee and be reported to the House. 24th November, 1927.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Industries and Stock Committee,, consisting of ten members, has held ten meetings during the session, and that the average attendance of members at these meetings has been six per meeting. Eight Bills and four petitions were referred to the Committee, and all of these were considered and reported upon. 24th November, 1927. George Hunter, Chairman.
