ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the Ist Day or July, 1926. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to whom shall be referred all Bills specially dealing with the revision of the law ; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee appointed by the Legislative Council ; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Field, Mr. H. E. Holland, Mr. E. P. Lee, Mr. Lysnar, Mr. H . G. R. Mason, Mr. J. Mason, the Hon. Mr. Ngata, the Hon. Mr. Downie Stewart, Mr. Sidey, and the mover." — (Hon. Mr. F. J. Rolleston.) Friday, the 2nd Day of July, 1926. Ordered, " That the Fire Brigades Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Bollard.) Tuesday, the 6th Day oi? July, 1926. Ordered, " That the Police Offences Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Hon. Mr. F. J. Rolleston.) Thursday, the 15th Day or July, 1926. Ordered, " That the Offenders Probation Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."— (Mr. J. A. Lee.)

REPORTS, Fire Brigades Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the Bill has been carefully considered, and the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 9th July, 1926. Police Offences Amendment Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the Bill has been carefully considered, and the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 21st July, 1926,

Offenders Probation Amendment Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that, as the member in charge of the Bill has expressed his desire to withdraw the same, the Committee recommends that the Bill be allowed to be withdrawn. sth August, 1926.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee desires to record its appreciation of the ability and impartiality with which Mr. John Mason has presided over the deliberations of the Committee, and that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. T. K. Sidey, 24th September, 1926. Member of the Committee.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee, consisting of ten members, has held five meetings during the session. The average attendance of members at each meeting was five. Three Bills—namely, the Fire Brigades, the Police Offences Amendment, and the Offenders Probation Amendment—were considered by the Committee and reported to the House. Bth September, 1926.
