REPORTS. Child Welfare Bill. The Education Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the said Bill has been carefully considered, and the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 10th September, 1925.

Praying for recognition of previous service for the purpose of calculating superannuation allowance. I am directed to report that the Committee finds to give effect to the prayer of the petitioners would involve considerable increased charges upon the Superannuation Fund, and recommends that an actuarial investigation be made into the whole matter during the recess. 22nd September, 1925. No. 236.—William John Worth and Another, of Kaitaia. Praying for relief for loss of building-material at sea. The Education Committee has the honour to report that it has carefully considered the abovementioned petition, and has no recommendation to make. 22nd September, 1925.

No. 266. —Petition of Joseph Cumberland Prudhoe. The Committee are of the opinion that the petition arrived too late to be considered this session. 29th September, 1925.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the ability and tact displayed by the Chairman, Mr. R. P. Hudson, in the conduct of the business of the Committee during the session; and further desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. j-j Armstrong 29th September, 1925. Special Report. I am directed to report that the Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by the Clerk, Mr. B. A. Weyburne. 29th September, 1925.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee, consisting of fifteen members, has held nine meetings during the session, and that the average attendance of members at these meetings has been eight per meeting. The Committee had referred to it twenty-four petitions :of these, twentytwo were considered and reported upon, and two are held over till next session. The Child Welfare Bill was referred to the Committee, and was duly considered and reported upon. 29th September, 1925.
