ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the 16th Day of July, 1925. Ordered, " That Standing Order No. 219 be suspended, and that a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of eleven members, to whom shall be referred all Bills specially dealing with the revision of the law ; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee appointed by the Legislative Council; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Field, the Hon. Mr. Hanan, Mr. Holland, Mr. Lysnar, the Hon. Mr. Ngata, the Hon. Sir R. H. Rhodes, Mr. F. J. Rolleston, Mr. Sidey, the Hon. Mr. Downie Stewart, Mr. Wilford, and the mover." —(Hon. Sir C. J. Park.) Thursday, the 20th Day of August, 1925. Ordered, " That the Undesirable Immigrants Exclusion Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."— (Mr. Fraser.) Tuesday, the Ist Day of September, 1925. Ordered, " That the following Bills be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee : Chattels Transfer Amend, ment, Land Transfer Amendment, and District Courts Abolition."—(Hon. J. G. Coates, for Hon. Sir C. J. Parr.) Wednesday, the 2nd Day of September, 1925. Ordered, " That the Life Insurance Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Hon. Sir R. H. Rhodes.) Monday, the 21st Day of September, 1925. Ordered, " That the Death Duties Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Nosworthy.) Ordered, " That the Stamp Duties Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Nosworthy.)
REPORTS. Undesirable Immigrants Exclusion Amendment Bill. I am directed to report—(l.) The effect of the Bill as drafted is to make the provisions of the original Act of 1919 applicable only to subjects of the State of Germany or Austria-Hungary as those States existed on the 4th August, 1.914. (2.) The subject-matter of the Bill involves a question of policy, and the Committee has therefore no recommendation to make, and refers the Bill to the Government. 10th September, 1925.
Chattels Transfer Amendment Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the Bill has been carefully considered, and the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 10th September, 1925.

Life Insurance Amendment Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the Bill has been carefully considered, and the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 10th September, 1925.
Death Duties Amendment Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the Bill has been carefully considered, and the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 24th September, 1925.
Stamp Duties Amendment Bill. The Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the Bill has been carefully considered, and the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached. 25th September, 1925.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the ability and tact displayed by the Chairman, Mr. F. J. Rolleston, in the conduct of the business of the Committee during the session ; and further desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. 24th September, 1925. Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee, consisting of eleven members, has held four meetings during the session. The average attendance of members at each meeting was five. Seven Bills—namely, the Undesirable Immigrants Exclusion Amendment, the Chattels Transfer Amendment, the Land Transfer Amendment, _the District Courts Abolition, the Life Insurance Amendment, the Death Duties Amendment, and the Stamp Duties Amendment —were considered by the Committee, evidence taken, and the Bills reported to the House. 25th September, 1925.
