ORDER OF REFERENCE. Extract from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the 21st Day of Junk, 1923. Ordered, " That a Select Committoe be appointed, consisting of ten members, to deal with all the matters in connection with industries and commerce ; with power to call for persons, papers, and records ; three to form a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Atmore, Mr. Girling, Mr. Harris, Sir J. P. Luke, Mr. Munro, Mr. McLeod, Mr. Nash, Mr. Savage, Mr. Sidey, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Downte Stewabt.)

BB.POBT?8. No. 124.—Petition of The Auckland Glassworkers' Union, of Auckland. Praying that a tariff should be placed on imported bottles. I am directed to report that, as the matter raised by this petition is part of a larger question on which the Committee has recently made recommendations to the Minister of Industries and Commerce, this Committee has no recommendation to make. 15th August, 1923.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Industries and Commerce Committee desires to record its cordial appreciation of the tact and ability with which the Chairman, Mr. Harris, has directed the business of the Committee during the session. It further desires that this resolution bo recorded in the minutes of the Committee and reported to the House. J. A. Nash, 28th August, 1923. Member of the Committee. Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Industries and Commerce Committee, consisting of ten members, has held fourteen meetings during the session. Five matters of considerable importance were referred to it by the Minister, and, after taking evidence, the Committee duly made its recommendations to him. One petition was also referred to the Committee, which made "No recommendation " upon it. 28th August, 1923.
