ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Friday, the 10th Day of July, 1914. Ordered, " That a Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries, stock, and commerce ; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report ; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records; three to be a quorum: the Committee to consist of Mr. J. Bollard, Sir W. C. Buchanan, Hon. Mr. Buddo, Mr. Buick, Mr. Buxton, Mr. Campbell, Mr. Dickie, Mr. Forbes, Mr. Sykes, and the mover." —(Right Hon. Mr. Massey.) Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during session 1913 stand referred to the same Committee as they were referred to during the said session." —(Right Hon. Mr. Massey.)

REPORTS. No. 212.—Petition of Isaac Hopkins, of Epsom, Auckland. Praying for monetary consideration in return for services rendered by him in connection with the bee industry in New Zealand. lam directed to report that in tlie opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, and that a sum of not less than £300 be granted to the petitioner for services rendered. 30th October, 1914.

No. 600.—Petition of A. M. Grady and Co., of Christchurch. Praying that the Government should purchase the secret of a process of extracting fibre from the cabbage-tree. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 30th October, 1914.

Special Report. The Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee wishes to place on record its high appreciation of the unfailing ability, tact, and courtesy of its Chairman, Sir Walter C. Buchanan, during the three years in which he has carried out the duties of Chairman. 30th October, 1914.
