ORDER OF REFERENCE. Extract from the Journals of the house of Representatives. Friday, the 11th Day op August, 1911. Ordered, " That a Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries, stock, and commerce; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records; thice to be a quorum: the Committee to consist of Mr. Bollard, Mr. Buchanan, Mr. Dillon, Hon. Mr. Duncan, Mr. Field, Mr. Hall. Air. Lawry, Mr. Okey, Mr. Witty, and the mover." —(Hon. Mr. T. Mackenzie.)

EEPOETS. No. 70.— Petition of David Buckingham and 54 Others, of VVaimate. Petitioners pray for free carriage by rail of returned empty strawberry-crates and raspberrybuckets. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that the petition be referred to the Government for consideration. 10th October. 1911.

No. 117.-—Petition of Edith M. Laurenson, of Woodville. Petitioner prays for further consideration in connection with the death of her husband. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that the sum of £70 be placed on the supplementary estimates in final settlement of petitioner's claim. 10th October, 1911.

Seeds Sal.k Cunthol Bill. The Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee, to whom the above-mentioned Bill was referred, have the honour to report that they have carefully considered the same, and recommend that it be allowed to proceed with the amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill attached hereto. [Vide Appendix 1.-12 a.] 13th October, 1911.

Sale of Poisons Bill. The Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee, to whom the above-mentioned Bill was referred, have the honour to report that they have carefully considered the same, and recommend that at this stage of the session the Bill be not allowed to proceed. 25th October, 1911.

No. 207. —Petition of Donald Kerr, Wellington. Petitioner prays for compensation for loss of office in the Department of Agriculture. I am directed to report that the Committee have no recommendation to make. 25th October, 1911.

No. 316.—Petition of J. VV. Raymond, late Inspector of Stock, Invercargill. Petitioner prays for compensation for the great benefit conferred on the Dominion by the discovery and introduction of the " Oat Phosphorus Poison " for the destruction of rabbits. lam directed to report that*the Committee recommend that it be forwarded to the Government for favourable consideration. 25th October, 1911.
