ORDER OF REFERENCE. Extract from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Friday, the 3kd Day op July, 1908. Ordered, " That Standing Order 219 be suspended, and that a Native Affairs Committee consisting of fourteen members be appointed to consider all petitions, reports, returns, and other documents relating to affairs specially affecting the Native race that may be brought before the House this session, and from time to time to report thereon to the House ; with power to call for persons and papers ; five to form a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. A. Final Report. 1 am directed to report that the Native Affairs Committee held its final meeting on Friday, the 9th day of October, 1908. During the session the Committee held thirty-seven meetings. The Committee had before it 194 petitions, including 18 petitions undealt-with last year. Of these, 176 were considered and reported upon; the remaining 18, as per schedule attached, are held over till next session for consideration.
