Ordered, " That a Committee, consisting of ten members, be appointed to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries and stock ; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Buddo, Mr. Duncan, Mr. Hogg, Mr. Kidd, Mr. Kirkbride, Mr. Lawry, Mr. Lethbridge, Mr. Rhodes, Mr. Rutborford, and the mover."—(Hon. EEPOETS. Retirement of Mr. Lawry. With reference to the retirement of Mr. Lawry from the Chairmanship of the Agricultural, Pastoral, and Stock Committee, I am directed to report,— (1.) That this Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by the latu Chairman, Mr. Lawry, during his long term of fifteen years' occupancy of that post; and (2.) That this resolution be reported to the House. 12th September, 1906. No. 203.—Petition of W. Maddison. Petitionei! prays the Government to investigate, acquire, and bring into use a new method of earmarking live-stock invented by the petitioner. I am directed to report that, in face of the adverse report received from the Agricultural Department in respect to the prayer of the petition, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 20th September, 1906. No. 609 (1905). —Petition of Donald Kebr. Petitioned prays for further compensation on account of expenses incurred in prosecuting his claim against the Government Stock Department. I am directed to report that the Committee has no further recommendation to make in respect to the prayer of this petition. sth October, 1906.

No. 22.—Petition of Catherine Munro. Petitioner prays for a compassionate allowance on account of her husband's services for fifteen years as Rabbit Agent in the Government Stock Department. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that the Government should grant a sum of £50 as a compassionate allowance to this petitioner. sth October, 1906.

No. 589.—Petition of Donald Kerr, of Wellington. Petitioner prays that his claim for compensation, salary, &c, be referred to regular arbitration. I am instructed to report that the Committee is of opinion that the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 22nd October, 1906.

Nos. 627, 628, 629, and 630.—Petitions of C. Burgess and 26 Others, E. J. Collins and 46 Others, E. Harrison and 43 Others, T. McCallum and 39 Others, of Christchurch. Petitioners pray that the Dair.y Act be allowed to remain in operation as at present. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make on this petition. 24th October, 1906.

No. 511.—Petition of Peter Ireland, of Goodwood. Petitioner prays for compensation for damage done to cattle in the quarantine at Lyttelton. I am directed to report that the petition is returned to the House by the Committee, at the request of Mr. T. Mackenzie, who presented it, with a view to its withdrawal. 24th October, 1906.
