1903. NEW ZEALAND.

RESERVES IN EACH LAND DISTRICT (PARTICULARS AS TO).

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the SJ4th July, 1903. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing (1) the number of acres reserved in the colony for educational, harbour, municipal, Native, and other public objects ; (2) what becomes of the revenue these reserves bring in; and (3) what is the total amount of the revenues: the return to show reserves allocated in each land district of the colony."—(Mr. Jennings.)

Return showing (1) the Number of Acres reserved in the Colony for (a) Educational, (b) Harbour, (c) Municipal, (d) Native, and (e) other Public Objects; (2) what becomes of the Revenue these Reserves bring in; and (3) the Total Amount of the Revenue.

What becomes of the revenue which reserves bring in : — (a.) Educational: Devoted to primary and secondary education and university. (b.) Harbour : Aid to funds of Harbour Boards, (c) Municipal: Aid to municipal funds of various boroughs. (d.) Native : Not known in this Department. (c.) Other public objects: To territorial revenue and endowments where collected by the Commissioner of Crown Lands. N.B. —The Lands and Survey Department have no cognisance of the amount of revenue derived under headings (a), (b), (c), and (d).
