GOVERNMENT ADVANCES TO SETTLERS OFFICE (AMOUNTS PAID BY BORROWERS FROM) FOR FIRE INSURANCE AND BY INSURANCE COMPANIES ON ACCOUNT OF DAMAGE.
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 10th July, 1902. Ordered, "That there be laid before this House a return showing the amount paid up to the 31st March last by borrowers from the Advances to Settlers Office for fire insuranoe, and the total sum paid by the insurance companies on account of the damage or destruction by fire of property mortgaged to the Superintendent of the said office." — (Mr. Hogg.)
Total amount of premiums paid for fire insurance by or on behalf of borrowers under the Government Advances to Settlers Act up to 31st March, 1902 : — £24,967 7s. 3d. Total amount paid by the underwriters on account of the destruction of properties thus insured up to 31st March, 1902 : — £16,202 7s. 6d. John McGowan, Superintendent.
