PRISONS DEPARTMENT: PARTICULARS RELATIVE TO ESCAPES OF PRISONERS FROM WELLINGTON GAOLS.
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated the 18th September, 1901. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing in detail, —(1) How many prisoners have escaped from the Wellington Gaols during the past five years ; (2) what authority has inquired into the relation of prison officers thereto; and (3) what punishment (if any) has been inflioted on prison offioers in connection therewith."—(Mr. Hutoheson.)
