CASUAL WHARF-LABOURERS EMPLOYED BY RAILWAY DEPARTMENT, WITH RATE OF WAGES, JANUARY TO JUNE, 1900.
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 10th July, 1900. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing,—(l) The number of casual wharf-labourers employed by the Railway Department in loading and unloading steamers and ships at each port in the colony for the period of six months ended the 30th day of June, 1900 ; (2) the rate of wages par hour paid for suoh casual labour at the several ports, distinguishing the amount paid for day- and night-work."—(Mr. Guinness.)
