FURTHER CLAIMS OF REVIEWERS (UNDER "THE LAND AND INCOME ASSESSMENT ACT, 1892").
Eeturn to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 16th September 1892. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a Return showing all further claims received from Reviewers appointed under "The Land and Income Assessment Act, 1891," either for travelling-expenses or payment for services rendered, that were not ascertained at the time of making up the return laid before the House dated the 9th September, 1892 ; also, total cost (or estimated cost) of the departmental work."—(Mr. Moore.)
In a Return to an Order of the House which was laid on the table on the 13th instant I stated, "Further payments have to be made to Reviewers; amount not yet ascertained." The following are the matters referred to:—

In a Eeturn to an Order of the House, which was laid on the table on the 13th instant, of the cost of the assessment, I stated, "This does not include salaries of the permanent staff. Such salaries are — 1891-92 ... ... ... ... ... ... ... £4,909 1892-93 (estimated) ... ... ... ... ... ... £4,950 Total ... ... ... ... ... ... £9,859 It will be understood that a very large proportion of the above expenditure should not be included in the cost of the general assessment.
