ARTICLES AND MATERIALS PREPARED BY PRISONERS FOR OTHER THAN PRISON PURPOSES.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated Bth June, 1888. Ordered, " That there bo laid before the House a return showing, in detail, the quantity of articles and materials of all kinds prepared by the prisoners of the various gaols in the colony for the year ending 31st March, 1888, for other than gaol purposes, the cost of same to the colony, to whom sold, the prices at which each class of material was supplied, and the cost and character of the machinery used in their production.7' —(Mr. Goldie.)
