PUBLIC WORKS EXPENDITURE, WEST COAST, MIDDLE ISLAND.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated 31st June, 1888. Ordered, " That a return be laid before this House showing (1) the total amount expended by the Public Works Department from the 30th September, 1887, to the 31st May, 1888, on public works of all and every description (including road-maintenance), and which said works are located on the west coast of the Middle Island, and directly under the control and management of the District Engineer of Westland ; (2) what amount has been paid by the Public Works Department from the 30th September, 1887, to the 31st May, 1888, as salaries, travellingallowances, and departmental contingencies in connection with the said works, roads, &c."—(Mr. Seddon.)

Return showing (1) the Total Amount expended by the Public Works Department from the 30th September, 1887, to the 31st May, 1888, on Public Works of all and every Description (including Road-maintenance), and which said Works are located on the West Coast of the Middle Island, and directly under the Control and Management of the District Engineer of Westland; (2) what Amount has been paid by the Public Works Department from the 30th September, 1887, to the 31st May, 1888, as Salaries, Travelling-allowances, and Departmental Contingencies in connection with the said Works, Roads, &c.
