PRISON LABOUR, SKILLED AND UNSKILLED (RETURN OF THE NUMBER EMPLOYED AT TRADES, ETC.)
Return to an Order of the Souse of Representatives, dated 22nd day of June, 1881. " That there be laid upon the table a return showing the number of convicts in the Tarioue gaols of the colony employed at trades and the various kinds of skilled and unskilled labour, specifying the respective trades and the value per week of the work done by each convict so employed, with the rate at which Buch value is reckoned, either by time or result, in each trade respectively."— (Mr. Hutchison.)
