Campbell Walker, Her Majesty's Staff Corps, Department Commissioner of Forests, Madras One year from 4th March, 1876, with option of extension to four years by mutual consent This appointment has been made by His Excellency the G-overnor, in accordance with the provisions of "The New Zealand Forests Act, 1874." The duties at present consist in the collection of information and inspection of the Forests with a view to the submission of a report and scheme for the organization of a State Forests Department. Preliminary inspection of forests in the Provinces of Canterbury, Marlborough, and Nelson. Mr. D. Robertson, Dunedin Temporarily employed. Engagement terminable at will Temporarily employed, fortyone days in May and June, 1876 'orester 180 0 0 Mr. Thomas Kirk Special allowance of £2 2s. per diem Accompanying Conservator on tour in Province of Auckland, and information on New Zealand Flora. Engagement terminated 25th June, 1876.
