BEPORT. In compliance with the provisions of the 17th section of " The Immigration and Public Works Loan Act, 1870," I have examined the separate account of the moneys raised under the above-mentioned Act, and of the expenditure thereof, during the year 1873-74, and find the same correctly stated, with the following exceptions:— Recoveries under Vote No. 84. The sum of £17,508 4s. Bd. includes receipts for allotments of land on which immigrants have been settled.* Explanation is necessary, as it does not appear why a vote for immigration purposes should be credited with receipts on account of the disposal of land. Roads, North Island, £5,980 9s. sd. This receipt includes three sums, viz.: — £82 1 10 52 15 0 84 2 9 which it is considered should be credited to Working Account of Foxton and Palmerston Tramway under the head of " Receipts from Lines open for Traffic." Charles Knight, 27th August, 1874. Commissioner of Audit. « The items are—N. Harland, £40; A. Jacobson, £10 ; P. Petersen, £15 ; OK Benson, £20; F. Frederichsen, £5 : Total, £90.
