RETURN OF CASES DISPOSED OF BY THE NATIVE LAND COURT.

Copy of a Letter from Judge Fenton to the Native Mintstee. (No. 1,132.) Native Land Court Office, Sib,— Auckland, September 2nd, 1868. In accordance with an Order of the House of Representatives made the 25th day of August last, I have the honor to enclose a statement showing the proceedings of the Native Land Court for the year ending the 30th June, 1868. With respect to the latter part of the Order, I have the honor to inform you that I cannot find that any formal reports have been recently made by myself or any of the Judges, nor that any have been asked for. I have been unwilling myself to volunteer any statement of opinion, for I could not fail to_ observe that Parliament, in the Native Land Act which they passed last Session, seemed inclined to legislate in direct opposition to what I had stated, in my report then made, to be, in the opinion of myself and the other Judges, the politic and just course.
