Resolved: That a respectful Address be presented to the Governor, requesting that His Excollaucy will cause to be laid before this House a Copy of all communications addressed to the late or present Governor by Mr. Justice Johnston, relating to the execution of his functions as Commissioner, appointed by the Letters Patent of May 28th, 1861, for the purpose of determining any differences arising *• among members of the Ngatiawa Tribe who may claim proprietary rights "in the land taken possession of by Her Majesty's Forces at Taranaki, pursuant to the terms pn " which His Excellency Governor Gore Browne accepted their submission."
MEMORANDUM BY THE NATIVE MINISTER. ls To communication has been addressed by Mr. Justice Johnson to the late or the present Governor relating to the execution of his functions as Commissioner since his appointment by Letters Patent dated 28th May, 1861, to determine any differences arising among Members of the Ngatiawa Tribe who may claim proprietary rights in the land taken possession of by Her Majesty's Force* at Taranaki.
