PAPERS RELATIVE TO A GRANT OF £1,000 BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE COLONY OF VICTORIA, IN AID OF THE TARANAKI RELIEF FUND.
Presented to the House of Representatives, by Command of His Excellency.
SUBSCRIPTION BY VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT OF £1,000 TO THE TARANAKI RELIEF FUND.
MR. MOORE TO THE COLONIAL SECRETARY. No. 4,469. Chief Secretary's Office, Melbourne, 27th July, 1861. Sir, — The Legislature of this Colony having placed a sum of money at the disposal of the Government in aid of the Taranaki Relief Fund, and for the maintenance of the families of the Soldier* of the 40th Regiment that were left behind in Melbourne, I have the honor to inform you that, in pursuance of the Vote, the amount of one thousand pounds has been paid into the Union Bank in this City, and placed to the credit of the Taranaki Fund. This course has been adopted as the Bank has promised to remit the money to Auckland without charge. I have, &c, J. Moore, Under Secretary, The Hon. the Colonial Secretary, &c, &c, &c., Auckland.
