HAMILTON PLAYBOX

"CANARIES SOMETIMES SING” On Wednesday last the three-act play “Canaries Sometimes Sing” was read at the fortnightly meeting of the Playbox. A smart modern comedy with few characters, and little incident, its success depends on its clever, crisp dialogue, and that the play was very well read was demonstrated by the amused attention of the audience. Under the direction of Mrs P. J. Edmunds, who also took part, the cast included Mrs L. Hallett, Mr W. H. Blakeway and Mr H. E. James, the president, who, at the conclusion of the evening expressed regret at the loss the Playbox and other cultural societies in Hamilton will sustain by the impending departure of Mr and Mrs S. A. Cook, who will shortly be leaving to take up their residence in Auckland.
