TE AROHA-THAMES VALLEY The output for the season showed an increase of just over 200 tons and amounted to 1976 tons, states the annual report of the Te Aroha—Thames Valley Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited. The company’s average grade of butter for the season was 93.78. Substantial premiums had been received, the greater portion of the company’s butter grading 94 points and over. “The company’s costs for the season of 1.908 d showed a slight decrease on the previous year, which is further reduced by a factory cost allowance of .269 d, the final cost being 1.639 d as against 1.840 d of the preceding season,” stated the report. The estimated average payout per lb butterfat, all grades, for the season 1943-44 was 17.078 d. The actual season’s average payment finally was 17.073 d. “The advance payment made during the season amounted to 14.720 d per lb butterfat. The balance in the appropriation account of £37,320 will allow a further payment of 2.455 d per lb. This, when added to the advance payment already made, will bring the season’s average payout up to 17.175 d, and with a dividend of .026 d added, 17.201 d per lb butterfat. A farm cost allowance of .767 d per lb butterfat for June and July on 91,113.9 lbs and 2.887 d for August to May inclusive on 3,556,287.1ibs butterfat (averaging 2.834 d) increases the total average payment to 20.035 d per lb butterfat. The total return for superfine including farm cost allowance and cream cartage ambunts of 20.587 d per lb butterfat. “A dividend on share capital of 1 per cent amounting to £392 19s 9d or .026 d per lb butterfat will be paid. The directors do not recommend any transfer from the appropriation account to reserve.”
