GOVERNOR-GENERAL

OFFICIAL CAMBRIDGE VISIT CAMBRIDGE, Monday. The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall and Lady Newall, will pay an official visit to Cambridge on Wednesday, May 24. The official party will arrive at Cambridge at 11.15 a.m. and the Governor-General will speak to district school children in front of the Town Hall at 11.30 a.m. At 12.30 p.m. the Mayor and members of the Borough Council, together with representatives of district local bodies will lunch with the ViceRegal party at the Masonic Hotel. At 2 p.m. there will be a Civic welcome at the Town Hall steps and this will be preceded by a parade of various units from outside the Returned Services Club rooms, A guard of honour will be provided by members of the Air Training Corps. After the civic welcome the Mayor and citizens will meet the Vice-Regal party at afternoon tea. Visit to Morrinsville His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Sir Cyril Newall, is to pay official visits to Morrinsville on Thursday morning and Te Aroha on Thursday afternoon. At each place he will be accorded a civic welcome. His excellency’s visit to Morrinsville is timed for approximately 10.30 a-m., and at 11 a.m. he will inspect the assembled school children at the High School grounds. The civic reception will take place at 12 noon, and the Air Training Corps will provide the guard of honour. The Mayor of Morrinsville, Mr W. Hetherington, will express the town’s welcome, and other speakers will be Mr D. Johnson, chairman of the Piako County Council, and Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P. for Hauraki. Afterwards the Governor-General will inspect the Returned Services Association, the St. John Ambulance Division and Brigade, and the Amazon Cadets. After lunch his Excellency will motor to Te Aroha, where he will be accorded a civic welcome at 2 om. Present plans provide for his Excellency spending Thursday night at Te Aroha.
