GOLF AT CAMBRIDGE
RETURNED SERVICEMEN COMPETE (Special to Times) CARTRIDGE, Monday The first annual South Auckland championship golf tournament held by the Cambridge Returned Services’ Association took place at the Cambridge golf links during the week-end. There was a large attendance, including a number of men of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. There were visitors from various parts of South Auckland. The president of the Cambridge Returned Services’ Association extended a welcome, and thanks were returned by Mr L. C. Mackic, of Te Aroha. Results were as follows: Senior championship. 36 holes, R. Alford, Cambridge, 77, 82—159; runner-up, W. C. Wynne, Hamilton, 83 81—164. Junior championship, 36 holes, J. Banks, Cambridge, 91, 82—173; runner-up, L. C. Mackie. Te Aroha, 86, 89—175. Senior medal (handicap). 18 holes: H. Rosenfeldt, Te Aroha, 32, 12—70; runner-up, T. Johns, Morrinsvilie, 85, 12—73. Junior medal (handicap), 13 holes. E. Nickle, Cambridge, 85, 15—7 C; runner-UD, D. J. Lundon, Cambridge, 91. 20—71. Senior Stableford handicap: H. C. Wills, Tirau, 33 points; runner-up, A. Sandal. Taumarunui, 31. Junior Stableford (handicap): C. O. Edmunds (Te Awamutu) 30 points; run-ner-up. F. Dickenson, Morrinsville, 29 Best net 36 holes. J. Mann, Wellsford, 81. 36—167, less 22, net 145. Non-handicapped players. 18 holes: L. F. Mellox, Rotorua Convalescent Hospital, 102; runner-up. J. F. Covry, Rotorua Convalescent Hospital, 104. PLAY AT ST. ANDREWS Results of Saturday’s play at St. Andrews golf links were as follows: Mixed foursomes, played over 15 holes (medal handicap). Miss Revell and S. M. Mayes, net 55; Mrs and Mr F. G. Wooller, Mrs Yendell and Mr W. Scarfe, Miss Cann and. A M. Fahey 56.
