LOW GRADE WOOLS

NEW ZEALAND AFFECTED WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 The War Production Board has announced that it will authorise tne importation of low grade wools, including 40’s and lower, from any country where shipping quotas are available and provided the importer can certify that the wool will be used only in apparel, yarns, fabrics, blankets and for industrial purposes. The announcement specially mentioned New Zealand and Australia. The wool clips of Australia and New Zealand have been purchased during the war by the British Government. By arrangement with the United States authorities the bulk of the Australian clip and a proportion of the New Zealand clip have been diverted by Britain to America. An embargo, however, had existed in regard to the importation of lower grades into the United States and it is this restriction which is now to be removed.
