FLARE-UP EXPECTED

LARGE ARMIES CONCENTRATED (Received Sept. 8,2 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 7 Despite the prevailing calm a flaie-up may be expected on the Indo-Burma border, where the British have concentrated about 800,000 native troops, says the Paris radio, quoting a message from Tokio. It adds that there are also about 100,000 United States troops on the border. Brigadier-General Davidson, the new commander of the Tenth United States Air Force, speaking at New Delhi, stated: “India-based American planes were active on 25 days last month against the Japanese in Burma. They dropped 691 tons of bombs, shot down three Zeros, destroyed 200 railway trucks, sank 20 river craft, and sank or seriously damaged six ocean-going ships. Two United States medium bombers were lost.”
