RAIDS ON BURMA

MANY RIVER CRAFT SUNK LONDON, Sept. 6 Great numbers of river craft have been sunk or damaged in Burma by Allied aircraft, says an India communique. On the central and lower Irrawaddy fighters shot up 60 river craft and two oil barges. On the Maya River Hurricanes sank or damaged about 80 loaded supply sampans and 16 other river craft, set on fire two 80ft. steamers, and destroyed four motor boats. In addition a factory at Danbi, Japanese-occupied buildings at Kyauktaw, and supply dumps at Taungup were bombed. At the latter place fires started were visible for 50 miles. One enemy plane waS destroyed. One of our planes is missing.
