RELEASE FROM ARMED FORCES (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Tuesday In order to meet the needs of primary industry for urgent seasonal operations, including harvesting main crops, silage and hay, military unit commanders have been authorised to release men from camp for periods not exceeding 28 days. This announcement was made by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, today. Where men are required for a longer period application must be made through district manpower officers. Mr Jones said it was anticipated 1 that most cases would be met by the ' release of workers for 28 days, and ■ the War Cabinet had agreed to unit : commanders making a decision after ! receiving proof of the genuineness of the claim for assistance.
