PRICES AT POLICE AUCTION (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WANGANUI, Thursday Restrictions on liquor supplies were reflected at a police auction of unclaimed and confiscated goods in Wanganui. Scotch whisky fetched £1 a bottle. A popular brand of London gin started at £1 but went up to £1 8s 6d a bottle, subsequent sales of the same brand bringing £1 11s and £1 17s. Port wine averaged 6s a bottle and beer Is to Is 3d a bottle. For whisky bids were offered as fast as the auctioneer could take them. Women were prominent among the buyers of gin and wines.
