Copyright) BRISBANE, Feb. 15 Five persons have been drowned and fears are entertained for the safety of many others as a result of Hoods along the Burnett River, Queensland, over a distance of 200 miles. More than 2000 people have been made homeless, thousands of cattle drowned and large tracts of cane crops destroyed. The damage is estimated at £1,000,000. At Bundaberg, where the river rose nearly 32 ft., all the wharf sheds and 6000 tons of stored sugar were swept away. The water rose to the second floor of a hotel in south Bundaberg. Airmen from a training school assisted the police and civilians in the work of rescuing marooned people. One airman was drowned and another is believed to have been drowned. The floods are now subsiding rapidly.
