REMITTANCES TO TROOPS

SPECIAL LODGMENT SLIP (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Saturday In order to facilitate the handling and despatch of remittances to members of the forces overseas, the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, announced that a special public account lodgment slip will be put into operation at branches of the Bank of New Zealand on Monday. A separate lodgment slip will be required for each individual to whom money is remitted, except in cases where remittances are made to groups of persons in the same service. There will be no necessity to write letters as in the past to notify to whom the money is being forwarded, as provision is made on the lodgment slip for this information. There have been cases where a lodgment slip has been sent by a relative to a soldier, but this action is wrong and has caused much inquiry and investigation.
