PROMOTED CAPTAIN

OFFICER FROM NGAKUAWAHIA Second-Lieutenant Bert McConnel, son of Mr and Mrs E. A. McConnel, of Ngaruawahia, has been promoted to the rank of captain, according to advice received during the week-end by his parents. Car-tain McConnel, who is 27 years of age, was educated at the Ngaruawahia Primacy School and the Hamilton Technical High School. At the outbieak of war he was on the permanent staff at Trentham, and he proceeded to Egypt with the rank of second-lieutenant. He has served continuously with the Middle East Forces.
