WEDDING

VALOIS—MARSDEN On Wednesday, January 14, a \ pretty wedding was solemnised at St Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton, ' between Joan Elizabeth Furlong, only daughter of Mr and the late | Mrs Edward G. F. Marsden, of j Ohaupo, and formerly of Wellington, j and Sylvester Desmond, younger ] son of Mr and the late Mrs A. Valois, jof Ngahinapouri. Bishop Cherringi ton officiated at the ceremony. | The bride, who entered the church jon the arm of her father, wore a | beautiful frock of white satin cut on j slim fitting lines, with insets of lace jat the shoulders and in the long i train. Tinv buttons from neckline to hem gave a charming finish to the ! frock. The long tulle veil was held ! in place by a coronet of white gar- | denias and her bouquet was composed of white sweet peas, carnations and glalioii. The bride was attended by her cousins, Misses Gladys and Marjory Dunn, of Auckland, and little Alison McFarland, of Tuhikaramea, was flower girl. The bridesmaids were i'rocked alike in primrose organdi made with full skirts, large puff sleeves and tiny Peter Pan collars, j They wore veils held in place with tiny flower caps, and their bouquets were pink sweet peas, carnations and maidenhair fern. The flower girl ; was in shell pink organdi, the lull ! skirt being gathered on to a tight j fitting bodice. Her posy was pink l carnations, sweet peas and maideni hair fern. ! Mr Allan Marsden, brother of the bride, was best man, the groomsman being Mr B. Livingstone, of Tuhikaramea. The reception was held at the Centreway Rooms, Mrs Dunn, of Auckland, aunt of the bride, received the guests wearing a Marina blue ensemble and carrying a posy of delphiniums, sweet peas and maidenhair fern. She was assisted by Mrs Mexted, of Ootorohanga, I sister of the bridegroom. She wore a navy blue ensemble and her posy was of toning flowers. When Mr and Mrs S. Valois left by car for their honeymoon in Rotorua the bride wore a navy blue j frock with white accessories.. The ' bride is a member of the Ohaupo Women’s Auxiliary and a guard of I honour was formed by the members | as she left the church.
