MILITARY WEDDING
LINES—WATKINS A charming military wedding was solemnised at Knox Presbyterian Church, Huntly, on Saturday after- | noon, January 31, when Eileen | Phyllis, only daughter of Mr and Mrs iH. T. Watkins, of Hakanoa Street, ■ Huntly, was married to Trooper I Ernest James Lines, second son of Mr ! and Mrs L. E. Lines, of Storey 'Avenue, Frankton Junction. The I Rev. W. P. Rankin was the officiati ing minister, and Mr J. Bogie played , the wedding music. | The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful slim- ; fitting gown of fine white lace, made i with a high neckline, short puffed sleeves, and a graceful skirt trimmed below the hips with a narrow band of white satin ribbon. Her embroidered veil of white tulle fell ; from a halo of orange blossom and ! she carried a bouquet of white car--1 nations, begonias and dahlias. The Attendants | In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Pauline Harris, of Hamilton, and Miss Shirley McNally, of Matahuru, who were dressed alike in pretty frocks of apple green printed \ organdi with square necklines edged ! with frilling and short sleeves puffed 'on the shoulders. The fully flared ! skirts were trimmed with a narrow frill. Their head-dresses were of green velvet flowers and pleated net. Bouquets of pink sweet peas, carnations and dahlias were carried. The flower girl was Miss Edith Lines, of Frankton, sister of the bridegroom, who wore a dainty ankle-length frock of deeper green taffeta. A Juliet cap of pale green net and flowers was worn, and she carried a posy tpf pink , carnations, sweet peas and dahlias, j The bridegroom was attended by 1 his brother, Private D. Lines, of Frankton, as best man, and Private Owen Brooks, of Huntly, was groomsman. The usher at the church was Mr Keith Watkins, of I Huntly, brother of the bride, j After the ceremony a reception ! was held at the Town Hall supper room, where Mrs H. T. Watkins, the bride’s mother, received her guests wearing a frock of teal green corded silk and a hat of cherry red sisol , straw. The bridegroom’s mother, j Mrs L. E. Lines, wore a frock of storm blue crepe, with a hat of navy sisol straw. They both carried toning posies. Mrs N. C. Harvey, the bride’s grandmother, was wearing a floral frock, a black coat and a black hat. Mrs E. Watkins, of Tauranga, the bride’s grandmother, wore a navy ensemble and a navy hat. When Mr and Mrs E. J. Lines left for their honeymoon the bride travelled in a jubilee blue woollen suit, with a small hat of wine straw. Their home will be in Huntly.
