CLAIMS BY JAPANESE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 13. 1 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 12 Reports state that British infantry. supported by artillery, drove back the Japanese in fierce counterattacks from several points north of the city of Singapore. The Tokio radio claims the complete mastery of the main fortifications on the island. Powerful Japanese units launched an offensive against British resistance around the water reservoir in the central pyt of the island. Japanese units entering Singapore from the south prevented the evacuation of British forces. The Domei news agency says British warships are aiding the defenders of Singapore in a fierce resistance.
