“DON’T TALK” CAMPAIGN
WORK FOR W.W.S.A. At a meeting, held yesterday, of the district committee of the Women's War Service Auxiliary, presided over by Airs J. Ward Chapman, and at which the Mayor, Air H. D. Caro, was present, details were discussed of the organisation of a “Don't Talk” campaign, to be launched by the Prime Minister on Sunday, October 19, in a radio broadcast, and to be inaugurated throughout the Dominion on Monday, October 20. The co-operation of the 65 district committees of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary in New Zealand has been sought by the Director of National Service, to handle the delivery of thousands of graphic posters bearing the slogan of the campaign, “Lest we regret, don’t talk.” It will be the duty of members to see that these posters are delivered and displayed in a prominent position, wherever people forgather and indulge in more than passing conversations. This, of course, excludes private households, to which there will be no distribution. Registrants at Hamilton are requested to communicate with Mrs J. Ward Chapman or Mrs R. J. Boyt, when they will be allocated the area it is their duty to cover, and will be provided with armbands which will give them the requisite authority to play their part in this campaign of national importance. The surrounding towns will be covered in a similar manner.
