TE AWAMUTU, Friday
The Te Awamutu branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association has I sent to Dominion Headquarters a re- j mit for the special Dominion confer- | ence, when the position of conscien- j tious objectors and defaulters from military service will be considered, j The Te Awamutu remit urges that j conscientious objectors be sent into special camps at soldiers’ rates of pay, and that they be deprived of civil rights for a lengthy period. It was stated that the ultimate decision rested with the Solicitor-General, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, and that there was a rising tide of indignation among families with sons on active service while conscientious objectors and defaulters were rendering no service at all.
