CHRISTMAS PARCELS
EARLY POSTING ADVISED MIDDLE EAST AND BRITAIN (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Monday Parcels for the Middle East and Great Britain which senders desire delivered in time for Christmas should be posted not later than the third week in October. The Postmaster-General, the Hon. P. C. Webb, announced today that under existing conditions the Post Office cannot guarantee that parcels will be delivered at any particular date. It is therefore essential that parcels intended for delivery before Christmas should be posted in ample time this year. The volume of Christmas parcels for troops in the Middle East is expected to be particularly heavy, and the provision of shipping space will present a problem. Some Christmas parcels for the Middle East last year were delayed !in transit, with the result that they were not delivered until well into January. Those wishing to avoid similar disappointment this year will be well advised to post early.
